Our next adventure is set to begin!
For the last 11 months hubby has been applying for residential jobs in the Pilbara region of WA. In May last year we were told they by July we would be up north, hubby in a residential job, me with the two kids.
So that was exciting, for like 5 seconds.
Come December we were still in a Perth. After Christmas hubby got grumpy and started applying for residential jobs with other companies, as his was giving him too much of a run around.
In between all this there was an employee in Tom Price that quit his job. Yippee! That's ours. Hubby applied for the job and after being given the run around since January-waiting for interviews, waiting for the job to be advertised, waiting for the old employee to move out, waiting, waiting, waiting!
Finally on Monday this week the company asked Phil if he would go away for a job up north, then they said to him "you may as well just stay there after that, but we want you to leave tomorrow"
He told them to get stuffed. He needed more than a day to get sorted to move 1400kms away.
Then on Tuesday (after all the supervisors had a go at the boss begging for Phil to be sent up as he was needed and they needed to fill his Perth job) he got "interviewed" the job was his all along but legally he had to be interviewed. We finally have a start date and can make some arrangements.
The first of these arrangements was the extremely difficult decision to send Phil up alone for the first three months. Being pregnant I need to be near a hospital (especially with my history with having Mr 3 before we got to the hospital). In Tom Price-the town we are going to- doesn't have these facilities and in a fact you have to be out of the town 6 weeks before your due date, I decided to stay behind.
I only have 14 weeks to go, which means when Phil leaves in 2 weeks I would have only be allowed in town for a maximum of 6 weeks (if the drs decide not to induce me) before I would need to be back in Perth again.
We decided packing the kids up and putting them into a new school for only 6 weeks before pulling them out and not attending any school for roughly 2 months was not fair. It would be too unsettling and frankly I couldn't put up with the two of them away from school for 2 months!!
The lease in our Perth house expires April 18 and our delightful owner won't let us renew for only a couple of months (she wants either 12 months or 2 years) so we were thinking of being homeless- until in steps my lovely mummy! The kids and I will move in with mum until baby is born, after which we can join hubby in Tom Price.
Phil has been offered by the company to do the new job as a 4 weeks away 1 week in Perth roster until me and the kids can join him, which is way better than the 3 months apart I thought we were going to have to do!! He will be on holidays when bubs is born and then altogether (kind of) we will make our way to Tom Price to start our new adventure. Hubby will be driving our car up with the dog while I take the much easier option of taking the three kids on a plane-by myself. Yes we are a slightly crazy family.
The company supplies the house and pays all our bills (electricity, gas, water etc) so it will be a chance for us to save big and set ourselves up. Our end goal is to live in WA's south west, but a there is no money there we need to get ourselves set up-house, cars, furniture, debt free etc.
I also found out today that the house we are moving to has a pool so I'm ridiculously excited. One not so exciting part about the house is that it's only three bedrooms-if you can count that means that Miss5 and Mr3 will be sharing a room, for the first time ever. And that, well that makes me nervous! They are both such chatter boxes I hope they adjust and actually get some sleep!!
Our new adventure is super exciting, I can't wait until we all get up there and experience a whole new way of living. The Pilbara is somewhere I've never spent much time exploring, I've travelled the south of the state but not so much the north, so I'm looking forward to the camping trips and road trips to the coast.
I also can't wait to get out of the city again. Since moving back 3.5 years ago all I've wanted to leave is leave this crazy Perth place we live. And now we finally are.
11months in the making and finally we have the job-fingers crossed its a good adventure and a positive experience for all :-)
