Smashing Day!!

Today we smashed a cake for fun.

A cake smash seems to be the latest craze in kiddie photography. So I jumped on the band wagon and signed Isla up for her first birthday.

What an incredibly hilarious experience!

I got a beautiful custom made romper with matching flower crown for her to wear, got a giant cupcake with pretty rose looking icing all over it and got everyone looking their BEST by 9am in the morning so we could chuck in a couple of family photos before the smashing began.

Bradley is VERY self conscious when it comes to having a professional take his photos so the family photos were relatively tricky to get done. Thankfully we managed to get some beautiful shots.

The photographer was explaining to us about all the different wild flowers that are around and about the $3,000 fine you can get for picking them. As we turned around Bradley had a handful of purple wild flowers he had just picked. OOPS!!

Then we got to cake smashing. We put Isla in the fancy romper, got the cake set up and I stood just off to the side so I could assist.
I've never done a cake smash session before so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Isla is such a cute, clean eater and never leaves crumbs behind so I didn't have too much faith in the session...

However! What I didn't expect was my little princess to suckle the cake as though it was a BOOB!!! She grabbed the cake one hand on each side, leant in and suckled the icing off the top of the cake!!!! And here I was thinking she was coping fine with being weaned-apparently she's suffering some withdrawals...

From then on it was mostly a game of chasey. I would pick her up position her, she would eat enormous chunks of cake and then try crawl away again. She managed to eat HEAPS of cake, I managed to get almost as covered in cake as Isla did and then we chucked the big kids in for a little turn at smashing and eating too!
It was hilarious and so much fun.

Afterwards we 'cleaned up' with a little bubble bath and got some cute bubbly wet splashing photos.

Absolutely amazing session, so much fun. Really wish I had the sessions done for the two older kids too!!
